About the college:
Highline College is situated in a diverse community just 20 minutes south of Seattle where we serve a student population of over 70% students of color, representing over 35 nations and more than 100 languages. The college embraces equity, inclusion, and social justice, with core goals of Student Attainment, Diversity, Community Engagement, and Sustainability. Highline is a four-time winner of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from Insight into Diversity magazine (2013–16), the 2016 winner of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Equity Award for the Pacific Region and the 2014 winner of the American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) Award of Excellence for Advancing Diversity. In 2015, Highline was the only community college in the Pacific Northwest to earn the Chronicle of Higher Education's "Great Colleges to Work For" honor.
Mission: As a public institution of higher education serving a diverse community in a multicultural world and global economy, Highline College promotes student engagement, learning, and achievement, integrates diversity and globalism throughout the college, sustains relationships within its communities, and practices sustainability in human resources, operations, and teaching and learning. Adopted August 2013.
